PLAY:
Second and three for team A from its own 20 yardline. As the ball is being snapped, B1 realizes his team has too many players on the field. The situation has not been recognized by the officials. B1 runs off the field to his own sideline, he is on the field while the ball is live but does not participate in or influence the play. A1 carries the ball and is downed at the A-27 yardline. An official recognizes the situation and properly throws his flag.
RULING:
Team B is guilty of a live-ball illegal substitution foul. Since the five-yard penalty is enforced from the previous spot, team A will likely decline the penalty. It will be first and 10 for team A from the A-27 yard line.
